Meditation Monday: Trusting in the Moment

Last week I talked about how fear is affecting my excitement for our upcoming trip.

We have 6 days left.

Less than one week.

and, I am finally feeling really and honestly excited. I've been waiting to feel excited for a while now, and I think that I was able to focus on trusting in the moment this weekend. Once I did that, I realized that it was going to be just wonderful.

I did a full meditation on trusting in the moment.

Trusting in the moment means a lot of things. For me it means being fully present, right now. In believing that there is no other place you are meant to be. In trusting that you are right here, right now for a purpose and because you are trusting there is no reason for fear. Because if you are meant to be right where you are, than you have been prepared with all of the tools, experiences and vulnerabilities.

You don't need anything but you.

For this meditation I sat tall, cross legged and relaxed. For a full two minutes I focused on letting go through my breath. And then, I decided to change fear into trust. To inhale hope and faith and trust, and exhale love and gratitude. All of that positivity doesn't just push all negativity out. It actually turns the negative to positive.

Ten minutes later and I was feeling so much better about everything.

And so, my focus now is to just be here. Right now. Focus on this exact moment. It makes life so much simpler. It is a lifetime practice, this living in the moment thing. But one very much worth doing.

Meditation Monday - Letting Go

Mantra: I will Let Go of all that Does Not Serve Me.

I like to do this meditation either sitting or laying on the ground (it can be on a mat) to get the strong connection to the earth. Even better if you can do it outside.

Take several focused, deep breaths. Clear your mind.

Start the meditation by repeating this phrase  "I will Let Go of all that Does Not Serve Me" as much as you’d like. And then focus on the act of letting go with each exhale, and replenishing with light and love on each inhale.

You can focus on specifics of what you want to let go, or you can simply focus on letting go. Imagine with every exhale that all of that which is unnecessary and does not serve you is sinking into the ground. And your inhale is the rain washing it away, and filling you up with light and love.

This meditation is great on days where you feel worn out, or full of emotion. It is also very helpful if you are trying to detox from unhealthy relationships or are even trying to lose weight.

I believe that we are a whole being, mind-body-spirit, and it all works together. So as you focus on letting go, you can start to see a difference in all aspects of your life.

Is there anything you are working on letting go?

I am working on letting go of hurt and anger. And I always feel better after even just 5 minutes of this meditation.

Meditation Monday - Love and Gratitude

Today's meditation is probably one of my favorites. It is simple and incredibly beneficial. And you can do it for as long or as short as you would like. Simply find yourself in a nice, comfortable position. My favorite is to sit in a supported half-lotus or cross legged position with a wall or pillow behind me. I place my hands palms up on my knees, but you can put your hands wherever is comfortable to you. You can even do this sitting in your car (NOT while driving) or at your desk.

Take 5 or 6 deep, cleansing breaths and then simply focus on breathing in Love, and breathing out Gratitude. You can focus on simply the feeling of love and gratitude, or you can focus on something you love about yourself and exhale something you are grateful for. I find that I do a little of both. Especially if it is a longer meditation.

When you focus just on being plain old grateful, for everything, and you can feel the gratitude just exuding from you. And as you breathe in all that love, you just fill right up with happiness.

Halfway through you could reverse things, breath in gratitude and breath out love.

However you do it, even if it is just 3 minutes, it is a great way to tune into all the positive, lovely things that surround you. Especially if you are having a hard day, having a hard time getting along with someone or have any stresses in your life.

Give it a try, tell me what you think!
